The Six-banded Armadillo, also known as the Yellow Armadillo, is
a species of Armadillo from South America. Its body is
usually yellowish in color, sometimes tan or light
reddish-brown. It is found in many habitats from
rainforest to grassland, but mainly found on open areas, such as
the cerrado of Brazil, a vast tropical savannah
eco-system. It shelters in a den underground and is able to
burrow quickly using its sharp claws. Unlike most species of
Armadillo, the six-banded Armadillo is mostly diurnal rather than
nocturnal, meaning like humans it tends to be active during the
days and sleeps at night.
