Night Herons inhabit the overgrown banks of rivers, ponds and
streams, swampy and marshy areas, coastal estuaries, tidal creeks
and coastal lagoons. They can also be found around areas of
human habitation such as rice fields, pastures, reservoirs, canals
and fish ponds. They are widespread throughout the world and
can be found in Central and Southern Europe, the Middle East, parts
of Africa, and Southern Asia.
