The Red Ruffed Lemur is one of the largest primates found on the
island of Madagascar, off the East coast of Africa. They are
active during the day especially early evening and can often be
found feeding in trees with ripe fruit. There are thought to
be as little as 1000 of these Lemurs left in the wild.
CREATURE FEATURE: SLEEPY AND MISCHIEF
2008 saw the birth of Folly Farm's first ever Red Ruffed Lemurs.
First time mum Arena gave birth to twins at the beginning of the
summer. The babies, named Sleepy and Mischief, as you may
have guessed have very different personalities and as they have
grown up continue to behave (or mis-behave!) in very different
ways. One thing is for sure though, like all Lemurs they love
to have fun in the sun and are very, very entertaining to
watch!
