32" FLAT SCREEN TV FOR FOLLY PARROTS

Pembrokeshire: Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo near
Tenby has teamed up with local business Vaughans, the Electrical
Specialists of West Wales, to keep the African Grey Parrots in
their new Folly Interactive exhibit entertained by means of a 32"
flat-screen television. The ex-display screen was kindly
donated by Vaughans to complete the Parrots' new enclosure and sits
alongside new climbing frame equipment and other stimulating
enrichment.
Tim Morphew, Folly Farm's Zoo Manager, the brains behind the new education-based sensory exhibit, enthused; "African Grey Parrots are sociable birds so when I designed this enclosure I wanted to include a television to keep them company when the Folly Interactive Keepers have gone home. Moving images are a great stimulus for parrots and in the same way people often leave their radios on to keep their pets company we will be leaving the TV on! We're extremely grateful to Vaughans for seeing the benefit to the parrots and kindly donating the television.
"At the opening of Folly Interactive at the weekend I was frequently asked what their favourite television programme is and so far, much like our youngest visitors to Folly Farm, the BBC CBeebies channel seems to be a winner, particularly the 3rd and Bird programme!"
Folly Interactive is a new education-based sensory exhibit which includes a reptile house, an ocean room and a tropical rainforest. Interactive exhibits and an array of animals, from Burmese Pythons to Common Marmoset Monkeys, from Armadillos to our Blue and gold Macaw help tell the story of the rainforest products, conservation, colour and the purpose of poo!
