15 February 2011, Folly Farm, Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire:  Folly Farm today announced a new show to debut in its Follies Theatre this February half term.  Farmyard Frolics sees resident animal trainers James Coxon and Vicky Shelton return with a brand new show featuring pigs and ducks alongside their fabulous canine stars.  The show will see dogs riding tractors and leaping farm gates, a "Pig Mastermind" challenge and duck herding.  Farmyard Frolics will run during the February half term (21st - 27th) and various dates throughout the main school holidays at Easter, Whitsun and the Summer.

James Coxon, Animal Trainer, said of the new show; "We've been performing at Folly Farm for a couple of seasons now with our dogs but this new show will really liven things up and has more of a farmyard feel.  This Winter has been interesting to say the least, with pigs and ducks comes a whole new set of challenges but having also worked with Folly Farm's giraffes for my masters in animal behaviour it was a challenge we relished.

"I'm often asked what's the most difficult animal to train and I'd have to say that terriers are still the most difficult to train, even over ducks and pigs, because they just cause such chaos!  But seriously it's about the method of positive reinforcement and rewarding good behaviour and whether it's dogs, pigs, ducks, giraffe or children (my day job is as a children's dentist and I'm a father to a toddler!) the techniques to encourage a certain behaviour remain the same even though the trainee may change."

Chris Ebsworth, Managing Director at Folly Farm, added; "This animal agility show celebrates all that is amazing about animals and our interaction with them.  It has grown in popularity over the last couple of years with our visitors, young and old, and the addition of the pigs and the hilarious Indian runner ducks will be a sure-fire hit."
