FOLLY FARM'S GOT AN "APP" FOR THAT!

22 March 2011, Folly Farm, Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire: Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo near Tenby today launched its first iPhone Application. Recent recipients of the Digital Marketing award in the National Tourism Awards for Wales for its new website and digital strategy, the "App" showcases how Folly Farm is using technology to engage with visitors, deliver education and enhance the visitor experience through a handy, portable zoo tour with information on each animal, a fact file and videos of mini zoo talks.
Zara Gaspar, Communications Manager at the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquaria (BIAZA), said; "Zoos and attractions like Folly Farm are embracing technology as a clever and creative way to engage with their visitors and in an increasingly competitive environment it's vital we encourage our members to consider new and creative methods of marketing and delivering education."
Zoë Wright, PR and Marketing Manager at Folly Farm, explained; "Our free iPhone Zoo Tour provides visitors with a handy portable means of finding out more about the animals at Folly Farm. It helps us deliver education to the masses in an engaging and creative way and it has the added bonus of marketing us to a worldwide audience. We want parents to enjoy teaching their children something new on a visit to Folly Farm - we want to provide them with the tools to deliver education and have fun doing it!"
Tim Morphew, Folly Farm's Zoo Manager, who features in the videos on the "App", enthused; "I can't physically deliver a talk on every animal to every visitor, nor can I guarantee they will stop to read the interpretation and signage on the animal's enclosure, but by providing mini zoo talks, facts and information on each and every animal through the extremely popular mediums of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad increases the chance of delivering on our educational principles."

the App Store or iTunes website by searching for Folly Farm or Zoo
Tour. You can also click on the icon below.
Folly Farm is currently working with its digital partner Writemedia
on a number of "Apps" for delivery throughout 2011.
