22 November 2010, Folly Farm, Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire: Staff and volunteers from Pembroke 21C called into Folly Farm at the weekend to help out in the restaurant and get some experience in advance for their Pembroke Eats to Live project.  Being an optimistic bunch they felt that they should be prepared for the project winning the Peoples Millions competition next Tuesday 23rd November.

Wearing Pembroke Farmers Market aprons they served hot chocolate from the Cool Cabin outside Santa's Grotto and cleaned tables and served from Carousel Woods, the indoor play area.  Not people to miss a trick they took the opportunity to publicise the competition, urging people to vote for them on Tuesday when Pembroke Eats to Live will compete with a project from Cardiff.

Supporters will be able to vote from 9am in the morning until midnight on Tuesday and a film of the project will be shown at 6pm on ITV Wales Tonight.  The telephone number will be put out by Pembroke 21C from 9am through e-mail, websites, Facebook, Twitter, announcements on Radio Pembrokeshire and leaflets and flyers delivered throughout the County.

If they are successful the grant will enable them to finish the refurbishment of Foundry House community centre on Pembroke commons with a much needed community café, kitchen and part-time local produce shop.  The project will provide training in catering skills as well as employment of a café manager.  It will provide inexpensive, locally produce food and drink for users of the community centre and courses in cooking and healthy eating for parents of low income families, young people living alone and older people.

The project will link with other local food projects and develop good value food schemes.  Further information can be found on www.peoplesmillions.org.uk/2010-finalists/wales/pembroke-eats-to-live where people can register their support and link to Facebook and Twitter pages to help promote the project.

Zoe Wright, PR and Marketing Manager at Folly Farm, added; "Folly Farm is proud to be supporting Pembroke 21C and glad to be able to help out with some valuable work experience in our busy catering outlets.     We just hope our double award-winning success at last month's National Tourism Awards will rub off for this enterprising group of fundraisers on Tuesday!"
