£6k Donated to Wildlife Conservation

We’ve just donated over £6,000 to our conservation partners!

This year we’ve managed to raise an incredible amount for conservation across the globe. We work with seven conservation partners that contribute to the preservation of wildlife in many different habitats: from the Himalayan forests of Nepal, the open savannahs of Kenya and the rich seabed’s of the Pembrokeshire coast.

Our partners include:

The Red Panda Network

Safina Lion Conservation

Barbary Macaque Awareness & Conservation

Neptune’s Army of Rubbish Cleaners

World Land Trust

Wildlife Vets International

Dogs 4 Wildlife

Thanks to you, our wonderful visitors, each of our partners received nearly £850 generated from the sale of our popular animal adoption packs and from collection boxes around Folly Farm. Thanks to a match funding initiative it’s currently running The Red Panda Network was also able to double our donation!

“We’re delighted to be able to donate this funding to conservation organisations across the globe. It’s incredible how a zoo in West Wales can have an impact on exotic species thousands of miles away as well as natives to the Pembrokeshire coast. With the help of our guests we hope that we can boost our donations, and thus our impact, year on year.” – Jack Gradidge, conservation officer.

James Welch, chairman of Safina Lion Conservation, with our zookeepers

“Thank you very much, the reliability of the donations from Folly Farm are crucial to us being able to make regular donations to aid lion conservation efforts in the wild. We are currently saving up for another GPS collar to help keep track of a young male lion.” – James Welch, chairman of Safina Lion Conservation.

You can read more about the work of our conservation partners or read more on the information boards around the zoo on your next visit.

In addition to this recent donation, zookeeper Kim Cartwright organised a fundraising day and quiz evening for Barbary Macaque Awareness & Conservation’s emergency wildfire relief appeal. Wildfires destroyed nearly 20,000 acres of macaque habitat in Morocco in the summer of 2022. A donation of £373.98 was raised for BMAC to help in this appeal.

Next year, with your help, we hope to increase our contribution to these organisations. Keep an eye out on our social media for the launch of our new Conservation Days which will take place at Folly Farm throughout the 2023 season.

Together we can have a positive impact on the planet and create a brighter future for wildlife.
