Representing Wales at Homeless World Cup Tournament!

Our very own ‘Sam Lewtas’ was part of a different team this summer at the amazing annual street football event…

Our staff always make us proud – but some go above and beyond even outside of their working hours – from taking on challenges to raise money for charities, to various sporting events, working alongside studying for college, or volunteering their time in the community. And this summer has been no different. Our very own ‘Sam Lewtas’, who works within the operational, finance and housekeeping departments with us at the park – had a very exciting and busy summer indeed as she competed in The Homeless World Cup, proudly representing Wales!

The Homeless World Cup is an annual street football tournament and is open to anyone who’s suffered from hardships including homelessness, mental health issues or social exclusion. A 10 day football event like no other! This years’ event was held last month in Oslo, Norway, and saw 500 players from 48 nations compete!

Sam was part of an eight person squad, alongside some other amazing Welsh teammates, With Wales finishing in seventh place in the world this was Wales’ highest ever position! What a fantastic experience – and one Sam can be extremely proud of.

“Playing for my country in this inspiring event and helping make history in the sport has been an incredible achievement! I also finished joint top goal scorer, which I’m very proud of”!
