We did it again! We’re over the moon to be listed within Trip Advisor’s Top 10, ‘Best-rated Zoo’s in the UK‘ – at number eight no less!
Listed alongside some amazing and very well respected company – we couldn’t be happier that the hard work and dedication of our team has been recognised. We’re so grateful to our brilliant guests for taking the time to leave us such heart-warming reviews on the world’s largest travel guidance platform which has led us to be listed within the top ten listing again this year. And what’s even better? We’ve also been listed as number one for ‘Things to Do in Pembrokeshire with Kids’. So we’re definitely a very happy team indeed!
With over 750 animals in our zoo alone with around 90 different species – with many rare and wonderful creatures including eastern black rhino, African lions, Wales’s only giraffes and Humboldt and Macaroni penguins, as well as sloths, tapirs, bongo, lemur’s, reptiles, amphibians and birds…Our animals are at the very heart of what we do.
We belong to 36 managed breeding programmes through our membership of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) and have had great success with many very special births over the years. We’ve already welcomed a critically endangered eastern black rhino calf back in 2020, with another calf due to our breeding pair due later on this year. We have had great success breeding our Humboldt penguins, many of whom have moved on to other UK and European zoos as part of the breeding programme for this vulnerable species. We’ve also had success with primates in recent years with the arrival of a few Patas monkey infants as well as a baby Saki monkey earlier this year.
We are constantly updating enclosures, ensuring that each one is designed for the needs and well-being of each individual animal – whilst investing in the interpretation of the exhibit to educate our guests on the plights our species face in the wild.
“We’re delighted to have the zoo as well as the attraction rated so highly on Trip Advisor – and we all really appreciate everyone leaving us so many great reviews on Trip Advisor as well as other platforms. As always, we’re super proud of the whole team – from operations, grounds, farm and housekeeping staff, to the office, retail, maintenance and catering departments, Everyone works so hard to deliver the best experience possible for our guests on a daily basis! A special thank you and well done goes to all of the animal keepers who take such great care of an array of species across both the farm and zoo.” – Chris Ebsworth (MD)
Alongside our award winning zoo, we house an impressive farm with barn and piggery and house a huge array of farmyard favourites as well as a variety of rare breeds. In fact – we’re the only Welsh Farm Park with Rare Breeds Survival Trust approval – an accolade recognising our efforts and contribution to conserving rare breeds of livestock! With our Vintage fairground, numerous play areas and events throughout the year – we’re certainly offering our guests a full day out when coming to visit the animals!
