We’re thrilled that, following a recommendation of the EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria) Membership and Ethics (M&E) Committee, that we’ve retained full membership and accreditation!

This EAZA accreditation is designed to ensure zoos meet the highest standards in the industry, and gives our guests the added confidence that the animals in our care are looked after to a high standard. So we’re very proud indeed!

The committee based its recommendation on our high standards of practice – recognising our commitment to animal welfare, conservation and education. The quality of animal care observed during the screening process, the dedication and expertise of our fantastic staff, and our efforts to engage visitors with conservation and animal welfare through our educational initiatives and materials was also taken into account. So a huge well done and congratulations goes to our amazing team of dedicated animal keepers and our Conservation Officer on working so hard to achieve these high standards!

We’ve also invested heavily in sustainable practice and infrastructure over the years and continue to do so, such as adding additional solar panels throughout the park, operating with biomass boilers to heat the animal houses and adding sustainable biofloors to enclosures. These factors were also taken into account during the screening process. We also review exhibits and make updates and improvements on a regular basis for the benefit of our animals as well as our guests – with animal welfare, conservation and education always at the forefront of what we do.
