Pirate Ship Upgrade
Ahoy! New ship off the starboard bow!
Work on the third and final stage of our Pirate-themed adventure play area development is due to begin. And we think we may have even saved the best until last!
Our Royal Fortune pirate ship dropped anchor at Folly Farm almost 30 years ago and has been enjoyed by thousands of young landlubbers’ visiting the Folly Farm pirate themed play area over the last few decades. But it’s time to give this lovely ship the old ‘heave ho’, as it comes to the end of its lifespan and is no longer fit to set sail.
But don’t worry shipmates, our pirate play area remains a firm favourite with us too – and we’re certainly not saying farewell for long. Young explorers will get to set sail on a brand new ship with far more play value and plenty of accessible features which will suit more families and encourage imaginative play for all!
In order for us to carry out this project, this section of the Pirate Adventure Play area will be CLOSED to guests whilst construction is taking place, but we promise to share updates and sneak peaks into the development as it starts to take shape – and our other pirate play areas will remain open.
Phase one of this three phase project, saw us open Pirate Island in October 2024 complete with tree house and numerous play sections. Phase two in October 2025 was the reconstruction of our Castle play area with forts and our very own Welsh Dragon! This third and final stage will complete the development and we can’t wait to see what you all think!
We’re continuing our development alongside Cardigan-based company, Adventure Playgrounds Wales, who’ll be working its magic once again, and have come up with a brilliant design that’s in-keeping with our much loved pirate theme whilst taking advantage of the advancement in playground design and product development. Once again, Red Lynch Leisure will be using Lappset equipment and the best quality Scandinavian hard-wood to ensure the new pirate ship play area will offer many more years of fun!
With the addition of accessible features throughout this new play zone, including wheelchair accessible ramps and low level interactive play areas – we’re aiming to provide much greater play value for young pirates. Stay tuned for more updates via our social channels mateys!
