Poo-tastic Whitsun fun!
Become a Dung Detective and learn all about animal poo with our workshops and activity trail
We don’t mean to cause a stink, but did you know that animal poo can actually be really important when it comes to animal health checks?!
We’re bringing the silliness with POOtacluar additions to the half term fun this Whitsun. We know how hilarious poo can be to children (or those still young at fart, I mean ‘heart’)! But poo can be surprisingly interesting and can tell us so much about our animals. Pick up a POO TRAIL form from admissions on arrival, look out for the various trail stops along with some ‘interesting’ displays – and see what you can learn along the way! We also have some TURD-ally tasty treats at the Candy Shop in the fair where you can pick up your Dung Detective specials – including the poo emoji ice-creams, donut specials and even some themed fudge. Don’t worry, it’s all edible – honest!
We’ll also be holding a POO WORKSHOP at our Lion Research Centre at the Pride of Pembrokeshire enclosure on Monday 25 and Wednesday 27 May 2026. And you’ve guessed it – we’ll be causing a stink by showcasing and dissecting some real animal poo. Kids can even get creative with making their own models – YUCK!
Our Dung Detectives Poo Workshops are an additional event activity you can book to enhance your day at Folly Farm and not included in your standard ticket. If you’re not an annual pass holder then you will need to pay for day tickets to Folly Farm in order to access the event. Our Dung Detectives Poo Workshops are aimed at children between 6-10 years old (adult supervision is recommended for smaller children). The group led workshop will investigate all things ‘poo’ and what poo can tell us on the zoo! The workshop costs £4 per child and profits will go to our conservation partners that help animals and habitats in the wild. There are 10 child spaces available on each session and you only need to book for each child taking part in the workshop, the accompanying adults do not need to book a place or pay. Book your spot now as spaces will go fast!
As well as the poo themed fun – there’ll be all of our usual Folly Farm attractions, whatever the weather, with our zoo, farm, fair and numerous play areas available to explore. There’ll also be some fun and games with our entertainments team, a Discovery Table on our zoo at midday and lots, lots more. And remember – we offer a return visit FREE OF CHARGE within seven days – but to qualify you MUST get your receipt validated by our admissions team BEFORE exiting the park on the first day of visit!
